London to Paris in 24 Hours!

Our Sales Manager, Craig, is set to undertake a big challenge! On the 5th May he is riding from St Pancras, London to the Eiffel Tower, Paris. 200 miles, on a bicycle! A challenge, which no one can deny, of epic proportions and all in 24 hours! See Craig’s thoughts on the challenge below.

“When I joined Coffee World, I was told about Shelter Box our chosen partner charity. From this I was instantly inspired to do something to help raise some funds for this cause. Shelter Box do amazing work providing emergency shelter to communities affected by natural disaster or conflict.

So, as a keen cyclist, that was my starting point. Many thoughts of what to do were in my head but ultimately, London to Paris stood out! I have taken part in many 100 mile events previously, so the thought of doing it over 3 or 4 days, as challenging as it would be to get up every day, get back on the bike and ride 50 miles, I really wanted to push the boundaries so decided on a 24 hour timescale!

I will be leaving St Pancras at 4pm on the 5th June to set out for the first, 80 mile leg of the journey with the non-negotiable deadline of 10pm to catch the overnight ferry from Newhaven to Dieppe.

After the 4 hour ferry of no doubt carb loading and trying to get some sleep, it is on to the much longer French leg of the ride. A 120 mile ride starting at 5am to reach Paris by 4pm on the 6th!

Training is well underway (despite the snow and ice!) and the thought of doing it all in aid of this wonderful charity is really spurring me on.

I would appreciate any support offered and will have a full report afterwards including details of how your donations are directly affecting communities.”
